Society of Humane Friends of Georgia, Inc is a licensed animal rescue group in Lawrenceville, GA. SOHFGA was incorporated in early 1998 and is an IRS approved 501(c)(3) nonprofit. We accept cats and dogs from county shelters and also accept owner surrenders on a space-available basis. All animals are housed in foster homes and adoptions take place at our adoption center in downtown Lawrenceville.
All animals are fully vetted including spay/neuter, heartworm or FIV/FeLV tested, vaccinated and microchipped before they are offered for adoption. Potential adopters are carefully screened to ensure a good match between human and animal.
There are not enough good homes for all the unwanted litters of puppies and kittens and the abandoned animals that are brought to the county shelters every day. In order to help with this problem, SOHFGA runs a low cost spay/neuter clinic open to the general public. Once a month we offer a low-cost vaccine/microchip clinic for the public. We also operate the Gwinnett Jail Dog Program in partnership with the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office.
